How to prepare for your Lash Extensions appointment
Elisa DimechShowing up prepped for your appointment makes a huge difference in how your lashes look, how long they last, and how relaxing the whole experience feels.
Here’s exactly what to do before your appointment to ensure flawless results and a smooth process:
1. Arrive eye makeup and moisturiser free
No mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow or moisturiser around the eyes. Makeup and skincare products, especially anything oil based, can leave behind residue that interferes with the lash adhesive, leading to poor retention. For best results, arrive with a clean fresh face! Avoid facial moisturiser around the eye area as this can cause eye pads to slip and not stay in place.
2. Dress comfy
Your lash appointment is your time to relax and unwind, so dress comfortably! Lash appointments can take up to 1–1.5 hours, so opt for cozy, non restrictive clothing that allows you to lie back and fully enjoy the experience. Im talking track pants, hoodies, dressing gowns, pyjamas - whatever makes you feel fully comfortable!
3. Know what look you want
It’s totally okay to come in with inspo photos or questions! Whether you want something soft and natural or full and glam, your lash artist will help you choose a style that suits your eye shape, lash health, and lifestyle.
4. Skip caffeine
Caffeine can make your eyes twitch and make it harder for you to lie still and relax plus, it can lead to increased sensitivity. Instead, hydrate and eat a light snack beforehand so you’re comfy and calm during your appointment.
5. Take out your contacts
If you normally wear contacts, switch to glasses for the day. Your eyes will be closed for a long time, and wearing contacts during your appointment can cause dryness or discomfort. Also Lash adhesive gives off a slight vapour as it cures, and contacts can trap it causing irritation, stinging and could even lead to chemical conjunctivitis.
Prepping before your lash appointment isn’t just helpful, it’s a game changer. It keeps things running smoothly, helps your lashes last longer, and gives you the best results possible.
