Elisa DimechGetting lash extensions is a game changer, they save you time and give you that effortless look. But there is one crucial step that often gets forgotten... washing your lashes!
One of the most important things you can do to keep your lashes looking fresh and lasting longer is wash them. Yep, it’s that simple, and yet so many people still skip it.
I know some people get nervous about getting their lashes wet, thinking it might mess them up but not washing them can lead to:
- Poor retention
- Clumpy, dull-looking lashes
- Eye irritation or infection
- Weak natural lashes
Washing your lashes keeps them soft, fluffy, and healthy. It also helps the adhesive last longer, meaning fewer fallouts between appointments and better results overall.
How often should you wash your lashes?
Ideally, daily especially if you wear eye makeup, sweat often, or have oily skin. But if that feels like too much, aim for at least 3–4 times a week to keep your lash line clean and healthy.
How to Properly Wash Your Lash Extensions
It only takes a minute, and here’s how to do it right:
- Use a gentle, lash-safe cleanser (oil-free is a must)
- Apply with a soft cleansing brush, using downward strokes
- Rinse with lukewarm water
- Pat dry with a clean towel, no rubbing!
- Once dry, give them a light brush with a spoolie to fluff them back up
Washing your lash extensions is one of the easiest ways to make them last longer, look better, and keep your eyes irritation free. It’s a small habit that makes a huge difference. Your lashes and your lash tech will thank you!
